Sergey Esenin
I don’t cry, nor long for, nor regretting...

I don’t cry, nor long for, nor regretting –
Life is short like smoke of blooming trees.
In my fading chiton with ‘golden setting
I will be no longer young like this.

You, my heart, will not go on as ever,
For the cold has touched your very core.
And the land of chintz and birches – never
Will entice me loafing anymore.

Vagrant spirit! You so rare, rare
Let the flame of lips intensely burn.
Blush of youth is to be found nowhere,
Eagerness of eyes and feelings’ storm.

Now – I’ve noticed – scanty is my wishing.
Oh, my life! Or – were those just my dreams?
Seems I’ve galloped through my life, unleashing
All illusions, all my hopes and whims.

All are destined to eternal flying:
Maples lose their brazen leaves and scent.
So, be blessed my life, be blessed my dying –
For my prime is followed by my end.
