Birch tree, white and pure
stands outside my room.
Maid of snow — demure;
In her silver dome
downy limbs are branching,
flowering in the frost.
Alms in palms oustretching,
white as an angel host,
there she stands so quiet,
dreaming, not a breeze...
Only snowflakes riot
and her branches seize.
Rosy dawn, awaking,
circles the tree-bride
and in merrymaking
throws more snow-rice.
