Nikolay Gumilev
No, there has been no transformation...

No, there has been no transformation
Of nature, poor and unalloyed,
But only bright illumination
With untold beauty fills the void.

And so it’s probably quite certain
Hangs human flesh on fraying cord,
When cry from darkness rents the curtain,
In judgement’s hour addressing Lord.

So, know my soulmate, proud and caring,
With you, and only now with you,
Both ginger-haired and palely staring,
For moment to myself I’m true.

Your smile my darling’s quite alluring,
Yourself not knowing somehow you’re
A shimmering brightness thus ensuring
Before you darkness curdles more.
