Arseny Tarkovsky
And I have dreamed of this, and this was dreamed by me...

And I have dreamed of this, and this was dreamed by me,
And once again I’ll see this in a dream,
And everything repeats itself and fully reappears,
And you will dream all that I have seen.

There, outside of us, outside the world
A wave upon a wave is striking shore,
Upon the wave a man, a bird, a star
And all there is, dreams, death — a wave upon a wave.

I don’t need number, for I am, and was, and will be,
Life’s a marvel among marvels, and on the marvel’s knees
Alone I place myself, as,

One among mirrors, fenced in by reflections
Of cities engulfed in light, and seas.
In tears, a mother takes a child onto her knees.
