And on this Day of Victory, tender and misty,
When dawn is as red as the fire’s glow,
Like a widow at a nameless grave,
The late spring keeps fidgeting about.
She is not in a hurry to rise from her knees,
She breathes on a bud and smoothes the lawn,
And helps a butterfly from her shoulder to the ground,
And fluffs up the first dandelion.
