Но его же черною перчаткою
Я в лицо ударил пришлеца.

И распаяно мое кольцо!..
Плащ упал, отвеянный нечаянно,
Обнажая мертвое лицо.
Я взглянул в глаза его знакомые,
Я взглянул... И сник он в пустоту.
В этот час победное кольцо мое
В огненную выгнулось черту.
