Petrichor. Bell towers resound.
Heart is wounded joyfully — by whom?
Who has thrown the stone on the ground,
Who broke in the chamber of my tomb?
Mare's tails; sky deepening and lumining,
Pearls of daylight scattered... Am I worth?..
As a maiden on her first communion,
The cathedral stands in openwork.
I see you: along the silver riverbanks,
In the shining fields of morning dew,
Barren hamlets begging for deliverance,
Cobblestones every painter drew
Come in muslin and Chantilly laces,
Humble raiments heavenly devised
Novices enshrouding their faces —
Churches laid of stone, brides of Christ.
No bounds exist to their gathering,
No clutch or border — if they chose,
In a blink they'd stretch the startled feathering
And take off, as if a flight of doves.
