The Rooster and the Pearl

While digging through a heap of muck,
By chance, a village rooster plucked
A shiny pearl. He looked at it and wondered
«What is the use of it? And why is it so pricey?
This pearl is nothing but a silly bead!
Pearl barley pleases me much more indeed!
Its grains may not have visual appeal
But make a heady meal.»

About something, then it's worthless in their view.

Петух и Жемчужное зерно

Навозну кучу разрывая,
Петух нашел Жемчужное зерно
И говорит: «Куда оно?
Какая вещь пустая!
Не глупо ль, что его высоко так ценят?
А я бы право, был гораздо боле рад
Зерну Ячменному: оно не столь хоть видно,
Да сытно».
