A fishing boat sneaks
To Odessa with contraband,
Manned by three Greeks.

Ramming into the bilge
A raucous whitecap!

Let the stars splatter
Their cargo all stacked up:
Cognac, stockings,
And prophylactics...

In a sudden turn
With a moustached Greek
On a black stern.

My homeless youth.

Rain like stars and disperse;
Let me spurt like a shot
To meet the universe!
Let the shameless waves,
A singing throng,
Also twist my lips
With a wicked song!
On this awesome expanse

Встретить во тьме
Усатого грека
На черной корме...
Так бей же по жилам,
Кидайся в края,
Бездомная молодость,
Ярость моя!
Чтоб звездами сыпалась
Кровь человечья,
Чтоб выстрелом рваться
Вселенной навстречу,
Чтоб волн запевал
Оголтелый народ,
Чтоб злобная песня
Коверкала рот,-
И петь, задыхаясь,
На страшном просторе:
«Ай, Черное море,
Хорошее море..!»
