I do not value much pathetic «human rights»
That many heads make reel and split to lefts and rights.
Moreover, I do not, in any way, deplore
That am refused sweet lot to challenge taxes or
To prevent the kings from fighting. I agree
That writers and the media are free
To fool the bubbleheads, but on the other hand,
It also is not bad when censors do withstand
Their outrage... Just words, and words, and words,..
Some other, higher, rights I value in this world
And of a better freedom often think.
Well, to depend on people or a king,
What difference does it make? God bless them. But, you bet,
I owe no report to anybody, yet,
Am going to serve myself uniquely and
My conscience, thoughts, and neck will never ever bend
For a livery or power. Instead, I'd like to go,
Looking at nature's wonders, to and fro,
Thrilling in front of the fine art highlights,
And voluntarily give up all other rights.

Я не ропщу о том, что отказали боги
Мне в сладкой участи оспоривать налоги
Или мешать царям друг с другом воевать;
И мало горя мне, свободно ли печать

Всё это, видите ль, слова, слова, слова
Иные, лучшие, мне дороги права;
Иная, лучшая, потребна мне свобода:
Зависеть от царя, зависеть от народа —
Не всё ли нам равно? Бог с ними.

Отчёта не давать, себе лишь самому
Служить и угождать; для власти, для ливреи
Не гнуть ни совести, ни помыслов, ни шеи;
По прихоти своей скитаться здесь и там,
Дивясь божественным природы красотам,
И пред созданьями искусств и вдохновенья
Трепеща радостно в восторгах умиленья.
Вот счастье! вот права…
